Children’s Worship

On the fourth Sunday of each month (except Summer months and December), Salem hosts a more contemporary service geared for children of all ages. Through skits, action, singing, story telling, and even a craft, the parables and stories of Jesus come alive! This popular service engages adults as well as children, and many come to this service who do not have young children. Children and youth take part in the service. During the school year the Children’s and Youth Choir sing.

Nursery

The nursery is open during both Sunday School and Worship Services. During Worship the nursery divides into two groups God’s Little Lambs and God’s Mighty Tots. God’s Little Lambs is for the youngest of our children and has an area for play and an area for more quiet activities such as looking at books or doing puzzles. We also have a portable crib for those who just want to nap. The older children can choose to go next door to God’s Mighty Tots. Here the children will hear a story and do a craft. They will also have the opportunity to play in this room.

God Squad 

God Squad starts out each Sunday in Worship. After the Children’s Moment the children leave Worship and go downstairs to the Kid’s Club room for a lesson and craft.

Sunday School for All Ages

Children's Classes

Salem offers classes for all ages, children to adults.
Sunday School classes start at 9:15 every Sunday morning September thru early June.

Nursery care is always available to children up to age 4.

God’s Awesome Kids – 5 years old thru 5th grade
Teachers rotate for each unit
This program is based on a rotation plan where opportunities are given to learn through various approaches. The children have the same teachers for 6 to 8 weeks and learn a Bible subject through art, music, games, storytelling, videos, science, cooking, and computers. This year the children are learning about the Hebrew people, Christmas around the world, Jonah, Easter, and Living as God’s caretakers in our world. Because we All learn in different ways, this system seems to appeal to all.

Adult Classes

Salem offers recurring adult classes with leadership being provided by both the pastor, and congregation members.

Faith Explorers                        Teacher – Helmut Gerlach

This class is an interactive discussion of how the teachings of Christ and the Bible apply to contemporary problems facing the church and Christian life, our community, our nation, and the world as a whole. Salem Experience occasionally joins this group for areas of study.

Grace Class                                       Teacher – Carol Listhartke

Grace Class meets in the Workroom next to the church office. This is a lovely space to meet with a lot of natural light and a nice table to gather around. This small group is currently studying the New Testament book of Philippians. Anyone, either new in faith or a long-time Bible student, will sense a warm welcome here.
